Awareness, knowledge about breast feeding practices among urban mothers

Background: The knowledge and awareness about breast feeding practices is influenced by educational qualification, type of family support from the family. Till date in India under- 5 mortality rate mostly due to improper nutrition children since birth infectious diseases among children. aim this study assess urban women attending a tertiary care hospital Chennai, India. Methods: This based; prospective, cross-sectional was carried out 200 antenatal who visited Chennai. data regarding collected. Results: Knowledge like time initiation, food that facilitate secretion milk more educated mothers. also showed significant effect on feeding. Proper posture not known most Conclusions: Antenatal had poor feeding, but initiation period weaning satisfactory. Awareness banking storage poor.
